Interesting Concept
I'm all for your concept, and it's clear you put a lot of time and effort into this entry. However, instead of recreating a scene, you have a short animation that loops after two seconds.
I'd suggest continuing with the idea , but presenting it as a short film instead of a short animation.
That's the plan.

I loved Banjo-Kazooie when I was younger. This was a welcome throw back. Did you or a group of friends sing the aca pella version of the song? Because if so that's even more awesome, on top of the clearly hand drawn animation.

What's the knock on the New Republic? Foreshame :P Heh, great flash, I had no idea about all of the history behind the NYT. :)
The reporters design was based on Hayden Christensen as Stephen Glass in the movie Shattered Glass. Stephen Glass was fired from The New Republic after it turned out that he fabricated a whole ton of stories and sources.
In retrospect, we could have easily made the character Jayson Blair.
Better Than I Expected
When it started I didn't know what to expect. Actually I thought it'd be pretty bad, it kind of bored me and I was ready to go on to something else (sorry if that sounds mean). But when the best friend came in, it got interesting and it got very funny and very worth watching. :)
